Elected Leadership
The Session
Members of the Session are “elders” who have been ordained to serve as lay leaders for the congregation. The Session provides leadership for the work and worship of First Presbyterian Church. Its meetings are moderated, or chaired, by the pastor. Its records are maintained by the clerk of session, who is an elder elected to fill this role.
Elders are nominated by the church’s Nominating Committee or church members.
They are voted on by the congregation at the church’s annual meeting each January.
Elders work with the pastor to coordinate fellowship, worship, outreach, education,
and maintenance of church facilities. Their assigned roles include leading a church
committee assigned with tackling a specific area of the church’s work.
